It was the making of history for the Staffs, Students and the entire School of Southern Nigerian Institute of Innovative Technology (aka SNIIT Poly) in the penumbra hours of the cheery Tuesday, the 23rd day of the rare-sitting month of the third quarter in the Lord’s year, 2014; when the SNIITANS (SNIIT students) navigated from far and near en masse, en route the Adimula Multipurpose Hall situated at the heart of the Delightsome Wood Villa in Ifewara, Osun State.
Garbed in scintillating suits and groomed in sensational skirts
, every Adam and Eve on and off campus looked like princes and princesses while they cat-walked and crisscrossed locking arms in arms like Prince Charming walking down the aisle with Cinderella. All smiling as a testimony on their physiognomies expressing merriment. Expectant and ‘unexpecting’ they were, of who the evening will follow home but living the moment, they posed for photo shots to aid commemoration in the years of nostalgia to come. Taking footages inside and outside the red carpet; solo and sorted, grouped and gapped.

The event which was organized by a ten-man committee (and members of the SNIIT Students Association (SSA)) kicked off at sundown with the presence of the likes of the Registrar (also representing the Chairman, Board of Director and the Rector), HODs, lecturers, nonacademic staffs and specially invited guests.
Meanwhile, the campus hit mix-master, DJ Hart who wore his cap of dexterity while he calibrated the console with soul-searching and nerves-soothing audio tracks that even the spirits in everybody swung and swayed to rhythm as the glamour and glitz exuding from within the hall banished any and every gloom that loomed around the entrants. The loquacious, funny-born comedienne MC Blanca alongside the all-star entertainer, MC S2D compered the show with such proficiency in showmanship cracking jokes like a soldier does the all-dreaded AK47 riffle; livening the evening up and making the audience wish the morning never was to come.
As all work and no play makes a lot of Jacks dull boys, the SNIITANS ensured the absence of any dull Jacks when the “Obobi Olohi” crooner, Mr Phame took the breath of all present with his latest wave-making single, on a karaoke ride. Then, the duo with the sonorous voices mounted the fore for yet another all-new remix of John Legend’s ‘All of me’ rocking track. One of the duo (Icon) captivated the spectators with a masterpiece work of slow rap while his twain (Indiya) capped it up with the chorus to which virtually everyone sang along. Then is Smiley wowing the watchers with dashing acrobatic dance steps and supplanted by the award-winning comedy twain, Kinta China who don’t joke with their jokes (laughs).
Amidst wining and dining with some indistinct murmuring and muttering tucked into the background-playing music by the mouths of many munchers, Goodluck Azunwena and Joy Gabriel, both members of the planning committee, set out to commence the business of the night – the remittance of awards to deserving awardees.
Anxiety was tangoing with anticipation while names of the nominees for various awards were being announced with the emerging winner were bid to the podium for a presentation, congratulatory message and a photo capture. Of course, in the midst of the oceans of clapping, cheering and chattering. Each outgoing winner thanked the organizers, fellow students and the school for the accrual of such honor and expressed their sighs of joy.
Some of the highlights of the evening were the presentations of Awards of Excellence to: The School’s Proprietor, Dr. Kolawole ChristWealth (Ph.D); Union Bank, Ifewara Branch; Award of the Best Lecturer to Mr. Gasu Gideon; Most Influential Student to Garba Mohammed; Most Political Student to Goodluck Azunwena; Beauty and Brain to Nwene Ose-Affiana; Pacesetter Award to Engr Famous Oneshioagbe and Reuben Indiya; Funniest Personality to Malcolm A. Emmanuel; Wild and Brainy to John Osime; Ladies’ Man to Daniel Eloho, and many more others.
